Back in the 18th century, a pestrin was where farmers (called pestrieri) used to milk cows in order to process and sell milk on the streets. Today, Pestrin is a modern suspension lamp that brings a unique lighting and design touch to any space of the house. Designed by Nicolò Zavagno, it recalls the old container for freshly squeezed milk. Such receptacle, with which milk was carried home from the barns, is the core inspiration for the lamp named after such an old tradition. Pestrin’s name though is not the only thing related to the past, as materials recalls history as well.

The central body of the lamp is made out of ceramic, with beechwood finishings and a neutral-colored rope to attach Pestrin to the ceiling. Tradition and modernity merge together in this design item, available in several colors: white, orange, grey and black. Pestrin is showcased at the new TID showroom, located on the border of Milan (via Monte Pordoi 8, Baranzate). The item is the perfect interpretation of minimal, contemporary and functional design, with a subtle yet bright light that suits any room of the house, from kitchen to living room. Pestrin’s creator is young designer Nicolò Zavagno, born in 1984; its producer, Irregolare Studio Design, the lighting and home accessories brand founded in 2013 by Zavagno, together with his talented peers Enrico Zanolla and Mauro Ferrandi.
