A modern open space within an ancient residence made out of stone: it happens in La Coruña , Spain, thanks to this project by Dom Arquitectura studio which preserved the original parts of the building to combine them with modern design solutions. Completed in 2013, the work was directed by architect Pablo Serrano Elorduy and interior designer Blanca Elorduy. The first thing needed by the building was light, therefore the duo created new windows facing south, made out of glass and steel, contrasting with the original wood framework. The façade has been preserved by just renovating the ruined parts with little stones and ocher mortar.

The interior is more about modernity, with a big open space hosting kitchen and living room with big chandeliers and natural colored furniture and design objects. The first floor is all about sleeping, with three bedrooms and two big bathrooms featuring XL showers and stone furniture. The master bedroom has a freestanding bathtub as well as a balcony offering a panoramic view. The property is further enhanced by the garden, decorated with recycled plates, benches and acacia, american vine and lavender trees. A quality project based on respecting the original structure of the house, by adding a glamourous contemporary feel.
